reading Arthur Rubenstein’s autobiography

Hey everyone!

When I starting binge listening to Rubenstein’s “The Chopin Collection,” I began randomly typing his name into google to find more information about this amazing genius of a man.  I eventually found out that he had written an autobiography, and therefore I quickly logged on to my library account and reserved in what I believe was his first of two sections.

On Sunday, I went to the library to pick up the now arrived book.  I didn’t think too much of it, and when I sat down and began reading it, I immediately began to become entranced with the story.

Rubenstein’s writing style has quickly become a favorite of mine, in no one does it compose of crazy long words straight from Merriam-Webster, but it is still eloquent and advanced in reading level.

From what I have read so far, Rubenstein describes himself and his childhood.  He tells the brutal, honest truth about things, and also casually lists off musical titans that he had met and had dinner with.  (He then goes on to talk about all of the unfavorable things about this or that’s musical playing.  Just casually.)

I am not yet finished with this amazing book, but I just wanted to write a quick blog post about how much I am enjoying it and that I recommend everyone to pick up a copy when they have time.

Au revoir mes amis!
